The JUNO-DS88 is an 88-key performance synthesizer with an Ivory Feel-G keyboard with escapement. Its sound engine offers 128-voice polyphony across 16 parts, with more than 1200 preset patches, over 30 drum kits and 64 performances, plus GM2-compatible sounds. User memory holds 256 patches, 8 drum kits, 128 performances and 100 favorites, and a rewritable wave expansion slot accepts additional waveform data loaded from a USB flash drive.
Playing and editing are handled by a pitch bend/modulation lever, four control knobs, four level sliders and eight multicolor pads, with a 256 x 80 dot graphic LCD for feedback. Effects include three multi-effects systems with 80 types, three chorus types, five reverb types and eight reverb types for the mic input. Rhythm patterns (30 groups x 8) and 128 preset arpeggios are built in. WAV samples (44.1 kHz, 16-bit) can be imported, including multi-samples with the Tone Manager software, and an audio file player reads WAV, AIFF and MP3 files.
Connections include a 1/4-inch mic input, a stereo mini external input, L/MONO and R outputs, a headphone jack, MIDI in and out, a USB memory port and a USB computer port that carries MIDI and audio. The unit runs from an AC adaptor or from eight rechargeable Ni-MH AA batteries (sold separately).
