The FP-80 is an 88-note digital piano built around Roland's SuperNATURAL piano sound engine and an escapement keyboard with an ivory-textured surface. Sounds include 14 grand piano tones, 25 electric pianos, 18 strings, 19 organs and 296 other tones, with 128-voice polyphony. A Piano Designer function lets the player adjust items such as soundboard behaviour, cabinet resonance, damper and string resonance.
The built-in speaker system uses four speakers and is described for personal stage monitoring or main amplification in small venues. Accompaniment comes from 90 rhythm types with two variations each, full-keyboard chord recognition and a Chord Pattern function for practising improvisation. A rear mic input adds the voice to the mix, with a two-type harmony effect that follows the chords played. There are also 25 registrations, a 128 x 64 graphic display, a 4-band equalizer and a one-song SMF recorder.
It connects through a USB computer port, a USB memory port for WAV and SMF playback and recording, MIDI in and out, stereo line outputs, a stereo mini input and a headphone jack. Wireless LAN is available with an optional USB adapter. A damper pedal is supplied, and a KSC-76 stand and RPU-3 triple pedal unit are sold separately.
