Elex-R

The Elex-R is a stereo integrated amplifier that combines the Brio-R design with the power circuits and phono stage of the Elicit-R. It sits in a full-width case with improved heat dissipation and a larger custom transformer, and is rated at 72.5 W per channel into 8 Ω, 90 W into 6 Ω and 113 W into 4 Ω with both channels driven. Typical distortion is given as 0.007%.
The volume control combines feedback and passive attenuation, using a custom chip, a microcontroller and a custom rotary control. Channel matching is set by close-tolerance parts in the pre-amp circuit instead of the potentiometer. The output stage is a low-impedance Class-A-style emitter follower built around complementary Sanken Darlington transistors. There are no tone controls and no headphone socket, to keep the signal path short.
Connections are a high-specification integrated phono input, four line inputs, a pre-amp output and a record (tape) output. A small remote handset is included, and a multilingual user manual is available.
