The Amp Box S3 CI is a small stereo power amplifier that delivers 2 x 20 W into 8 ohms or 34 W into 4 ohms per channel. It builds on the Amp Box S3 with a redesigned circuit board and topology intended to lower distortion and improve signal-to-noise ratio, and it is tuned to resemble the sound of a tube amplifier.
The custom-installation additions are Auto Power, which switches the unit on as soon as the power supply is connected, and signal sensing, which switches between standby and on depending on whether an input signal is present. RS232 control allows automation, smart-home and home-theatre integration. Level, bass (±11 dB) and treble (±5 dB) controls allow the amp to be matched to a given system. Speaker, RS232 and power connections use secure professional-grade sockets so cables cannot be pulled out accidentally.
Inputs are a stereo RCA pair with a stereo RCA loop output, plus a 12 V trigger input and output on 2.5 mm jacks. Speakers connect to a pluggable 4-pin Phoenix block. The full aluminium case shields against vibration and interference, and the unit is powered by an external 20 V / 3 A DC supply. It is made in Europe and comes in black or silver.
