The 1959HW BJA is a single-channel, 100W all-valve head in Marshall's Handwired range, built in Bletchley, UK. It builds on the classic 1959 circuit with a master volume, cascaded input stages and extra gain for more saturated overdrive, plus increased low-end response for a thicker, fuller sound.
Controls are gain, master volume, treble, middle, bass and presence. The valve complement is three ECC83 in the preamp and phase-splitter stages and four EL34 in the power amp. There are no onboard effects and no effects loop.
The head has two 1/4" instrument inputs with high and low sensitivity, and two 1/4" speaker outputs with a selectable 16Ω, 8Ω or 4Ω load. The finish is blue, inspired by Armstrong's first guitar, and the panel carries brass and silver details, Dookie branding and his signature. A detachable power cable is supplied.
