The Soul Food is a compact analog overdrive pedal designed as a more affordable alternative to a well-known, expensive boutique overdrive. It aims for a transparent sound that keeps the character of the guitar and amp while adding a more assertive, attention-getting edge.
Three knobs cover the controls: Volume sets the output level, Drive controls the amount of input gain, and Treble works as a tone control. A footswitch engages the effect, with an LED lit when it is active. The circuit uses boosted power rails to provide extra headroom and definition, and the bypass can be switched between true bypass and buffered bypass.
The pedal is mono, with one input jack and one output jack, in a compact, rugged enclosure. It is powered by the included 9.6VDC 200mA adapter, and an optional 9V battery can also be used (battery not included). It was first released in 2013.
