The A5X is a vertical two-way active monitor. A 5.5-inch woofer with a carbon, Rohacell and glass-fibre cone covers the low and mid range up to a 2.5 kHz crossover. A 1.5-inch voice coil drives it, powered by a 50 W PWM amplifier. The X-ART tweeter has its own 50 W class A/B amplifier. Rated frequency response is 50 Hz to 50 kHz, and maximum SPL is 110 dB or more per pair at 1 m.
On the front panel are a volume control and the power switch. Tweeter gain (±4 dB) and low and high shelf filters (±6 dB each) are set to suit the room. The Stereolink function uses a second pair of input and output jacks, so the volume of both monitors can be set from one speaker's knob. The other speaker's own control still trims its level to offset differences in listening distance. Each unit can work as master or slave.
Signal comes in on analog XLR or RCA connectors. The cabinet is compact for desktop use, and an optional wall mount and desktop stand are available. A Cinch cable, power cord and manual are supplied.
