The SmartMic+ is a directional shotgun microphone that attaches directly to a mobile device and draws its power from the connection, so it needs no batteries and no charging. The housing is all metal. The pickup pattern is directional, which favours the sound in front of the mic and reduces background noise, and the mic can be set up for front-facing or rear-facing use.
A 3.5mm headphone jack allows real-time monitoring and playback, depending on the app in use. For different environments, a foam windscreen is supplied for indoor recording and a furry wind cover for outdoor use.
The mic is offered in three versions according to the device connector: USB-C, 3.5mm TRS and Lightning. It is covered by a 2-year global warranty, under which defective units are replaced rather than repaired.
