The Bass Preacher is a mono, analog compressor/sustainer in a die-cast enclosure, aimed at bass guitar. Two knobs set the amount of compression (Sustain) and the make-up gain (Vol), so the output can be brought back to full volume even at maximum compression. Gain reduction reaches up to 21 dB, which covers anything from gentle levelling to a heavily squashed tone.
A toggle switch selects Fast, Medium or Slow attack to change how quickly compression sets in. Input sensitivity spans -10 dBu to +2 dBu, so the pedal can be used with passive and active basses of different output levels. A red LED shows when the effect is engaged, and the footswitch toggles between the effect and true bypass.
The signal goes in through a 1/4" Input jack and leaves through the Amp jack. Power comes from an included 9V battery, or from an optional 9.6VDC 200mA adapter that is sold separately. Current draw is 33mA.
